HP+P Meets Braddock Drive Elementary

This month, the Halton Pardee team was given the opportunity to take a private tour of Braddock Drive Elementary School. From the incredible Gifted Program to the new and growing Mandarin Program, we were educated on all things Braddock Drive Elementary School!

Our team met with Eva Lopez, an amazing leader to the school, along with parents and teachers all who shared their enthusiasm and vision with us on the extraordinary work and opportunities that are occurring at the school.

Located in Culver City, Braddock Drive Elementary is home to 3 different school options for its students. The traditional school model, in which they refer to it as Community Program, embodies everything that a typical LAUSD school would have. We loved that this model is referred to as “community” as you truly feel you are a part of one being at the school.

Braddock Drive Elementary is the only Gifted Magnet Elementary School on the Westside as well. The vision of Braddock Drive Elementary & Gifted Magnet is to provide a high-quality, rigorous education in a safe and supportive learning environment that empowers students.

The Braddock Drive Elementary Mandarin Immersion Program is designed to help students achieve academic success in both English and Mandarin and become bilingual, bi-cultural, and bi-literate. Starting with two kindergarten classes in Fall 2016, the growing K-5 Mandarin program features the same design, curriculum, and resources as the highly successful Mandarin program at Broadway Elementary.

Additionally, this hidden gem has two gardens, a brand new computer lab, and huge yard for students to run around and just be kids! We loved seeing the freshly painted murals all around campus, adding bright colors and a whimsical feel that made us just fall in love with this neighborhood school.

The school currently has about 450 students and plans to grow to about 600 over the course of the next couple years. We know that as more families discover the wonderful opportunities that Braddock is offering it’s students, everyone will be trying to get in!
